Stacey P. Owens, DDS, MS

Dr. Owens was born and raised in the small Cajun town of Breaux Bridge, and remembers wanting to be a dentist ever since her childhood. Her persistence and dedication allowed that dream to become reality. Stacey's road of academics carried her through Teurlings Catholic and then University of Louisiana-Lafayette for her degree in Biological Sciences. From there she extended her scientific research with a Master of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology from Tulane University. By 2017 Dr. Owens completed her doctorate of dental surgery at LSU School of Dentistry and accepted into advanced education in general practice at University of Alabama at Birmingham. This program allowed Stacey the opportunity to hone her training in advanced dental techniques providing services to a medically complex and compromised community in UAB Hospital.

While in Dental School, Doctor Owens had a sincere passion for leading her peers in dental philanthropy and outreach. She led numerous missions to provide care to the New Orleans community while serving as Class Service Chair. Her most lasting achievement was her initiation of the LSU School of Dentistry - Ozanam Inn Dental Clinic. In conjunction with Dr. Sherrod Quin and Dr. Suezan McCormick, in 2014 they established and organized the interprofessional clinic serving healthcare needs for the homeless population in New Orleans. Their passion for philanthropy continues to this day.

Attitude and commitment are key qualities of a true professional. Ms. Owens knows the importance of diligence and hard work. She entered dental school with a Masters in Cell and Molecular Biology providing her with a strong clinician/scientist acumen. As a dental student, she has maintained a laudable service-related schedule while maintaining her academic record. She enjoys being involved in all aspects of dental school including volunteer activities and professionals organizations. Her selflessness is reflected in the broad scope of community service she participates in and organizes. She is the Philanthropy Chair of ASDA and the clinical coordinator for the Ozanam Inn project that provides collaborative dental and health care to homeless men in New Orleans. Her charitable and humanitarian spirit along with her ability to work collaboratively serving those in need will certainly distinguish her in the field of dentistry for many years to come.
